Merchant Information

Currently Intercon Mid-Atlantic 2006 - XXI does not have openings for merchants. Typically we have found that General Merchants do not do well on sales at Intercon Mid-Atlantic, and as space is at a premium, we are unable to provide good merchanting space.

There are occasional exceptions. Some costuming businesses have done reasonably well, and some merchants may not require much space.

We do not recommend Intercon to Walk-In vendors.

If you have attended a previous Intercon Mid-Atlantic, and feel you have a realistic appraisal of the situation, and would still like to work out some sort of merchanting arrangement, please contact us at gordon@vialarp.org

ATTENDING INTERCON WITH YOUR CHILDREN

We want to make it safe and fun for your children (under the age of 16 - older children are classified as "minors") to attend Intercon. However, experience has shown us that the overwhelming majority of attendees at Intercon are adults, or older minors. By an overwhelming majority (child attendees have ranged from none to one or two in previous years) the con is structured towards these individuals

Intercon wants it to be possible for parents to attend with children, and wants to encourage families to game. The most important thing you can do to help this is to bid and run games at intercon which are child friendly, or volunteer to organize children's activities, or co-op babysitting.

Intercon does not want to impose draconian policies on children, however when the con was pressed to create a policy, we found it necessary to protect our legal interests, and the freedom of action of other con guests. From experience, responsible parents who keep their children with them or nearby, and do not permit them to misbehave or become a nuisance generally find that our polices present no problem. However the small minority of parents who are unwilling or unable to make their childen behave in public will force us to consult these policies and implement them in order to make attendance pleasant for the other con-goers...

Summary - if your kids are well behaved you won't get any problems from the con!

Warning Concerning Adult Materials

In previous years merchants have attended Intercon selling various adult-oriented material: fetishware, corsetry, and other adult items. The display of these items has always been tasteful and discreet. Because Intercon has a primarily adult audience and because Intercon has limited merchant space, we cannot guarantee that these items will not be on display in the public areas of the Con, including the Con Suite. Intercon also does not regulate the use of adult content and language in flyers or advertisements displayed at the Convention. Intercon cannot be responsible if your child comes into contact with this material.

Each event at Intercon will have a rating regarding attendance by Children. Categories are:

Welcome The game has roles, material, and scenarios suitable for children. Children may enroll without hesitation. Parents are generally expected to accompany children unless otherwise arranged with the GMs

Parents are responsible for monitoring their children or Minors at any private party which serves alcohol, including any private parties taking place in Convention Space.

Minors under the age of 18 must attend with parental permission. While Minors do not need to accompany Minors at all times, they are responsible for insuring that they do not consume alcohol at private parties. Intercon has a very small number of minors in attendence, and will attempt to insure that all party hosts are aware of their identity in order to ensure that they are not served alcohol.

Minors under the age of 16 must attend with a parent and are considered "Children"

Minors under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a Parent or designated Adult answerable to the Parent at all times at the Convention
