INTERCON - PLUGS AND ADVERTISING ADVICE AND HELP!
Intercon
is a valuable opportunity for LARP GMs, Groups and Organizations,
to advertise their LARP Events and Products! We feel
that this is a key part of Intercon, coming second only to
the Games of Intercon and Attendee enjoyment. Advertising
helps build our basic LARP Community, which is one of the
things Intercon is about!
Sponsorships
The best way to form a partnership with Intercon is through Sponsorships. Our Sponsors receive preferential consideration for advertising space, perqs, and any other promotional opportunities we have available.
Flyers
Space on the table will be on a first-come first serve basis. Please treat other flyers with respect, and do not "bury" anyone else's flyers. Standard sized plastic holders or stand-ups are fine, but Intercon cannot provide them - all plastic stand-ups are privately owned, or owned by Intercon for use by Intercon.
Standalone Displays
Stand-up displays of reasonable size are fine, but we do not have a dealer's room and cannot accomodate full-sized tables. Consult with the Con-Chair about your displays in advance, and we'll try and place them prominently. We cannot be responsible for security of public displays - if you have valuable equipment out, you must be responsible for locking it up at night.
Posters
The halls outside and outside and inside the con-suite are fair game. The space for the dance is open for posting fliers an hour before the dance-party, and we encourage you to plaster the walls. Obviously we'll be cleaning up for games the next morning. Handouts and other promotional items may be left anywhere they do not create excessive junk. Please refrain from advertising in the lobby of the hotel, as we share that with other guests.
Sales
Intercon will accept checks or cash for your events only at the registration desk. We must have a flier or other source that has your full information, as well as whatever form you want your registerees to fill out. We regret we do not have the resources to sell merchandise at the Intercon registration desk.
Special Promotions
An example of this might be a free food or drink item provided by a game at the dance, followed by a short plug and song dedication. Promotions should be fun and fast moving.
Plugs
"Shameless Plugs" at the end of the Con are an old tradition, and we want to continue that tradition. But we also need to make sure that closing ceremonies move quickly enough that the audience does not get bored. This is also a time for other important things such as thanking the people who worked on the Convention, and making last minute money, or completing moneymaking efforts such as the raffle which allow us to keep the price of Intercon reasonable.
Order of plugs will be available Sunday morning
We ask that you limit your plug to about 90 seconds. We do not have a gong and we will not rudely interrupt you. Please show consideration by making it easy for us. Well be organizing a staging area for plugs. Please set up there and be ready to move on and perform your plug immediately when signaled to. Please limit all aspects of your plug, including any props or sound that needs to be set up, to 90 seconds total! There is nothing more boring than watching people set up a stage. If you need a special prop or setup, talk to us, and well try and work it out so that you can have some extra time to set up while attention is elsewhere.
Conventions
Intercon wants to promote Conventions, including other Intercons however if every game at an average sized Intercon did a 90 second plug, the Intercon plug would last for sixteen and a half minutes. In addition, we have to recognize that plugs for multi-game events have historically been very dry and rather dull. We ask that multi-game events work out a group plug beforehand, and try to hold a general plug to less than five minutes, and take advantage of superior organization to punch it up a bit! This may mean a string of individual event plugs to 30 seconds or so apiece, or plugging a few featured events for most of the time. Help us help you by not putting the audience to sleep, and making your event seem like a fun thing to attend!

Format for Submission - Art may be submitted in any generally accepted format. GIF, JPG, TIF, WMF or CDR format preferred. Generally any format supported by Adobe Photoshop or Corel Draw is acceptable. However note the following caveats:
1) PDF must have the fonts embedded
2) Many formats do not embed the fonts. In particular this is a problem with EPS and PDF. If you do not embed the fonts, we will not have them. If you do not understand how to embed fonts, send us a JPG, or get someone who understands to help you.
3) Low Res JPGs reproduce poorly
Small Logo- Approximately 2" width by .75" height
Program Book Ads - 8.5" x 11" with .5" margin, as we cannot do a full bleed.
